Just to give you an idea of what you will find at Söll along with its amenities.

Our short walks ensure you never stray too far from Söll whilst still able to appreciate the scenery. For children, special children's areas have been set up in each village.

The more advanced walker can take in the sights of Söll, visit neighbouring villages in the valley, and even cross over into adjacent valleys.

These longer walks are often a combination of other walks, or walks in their own right.

Welcome to Söll Walks (Wandern am Wilderkaiser)

Söll is a beautiful village in the Tyrol, with excellent walking possibilities for all ages and all abilities. As in most Austrian villages, the Church dominates the village. Band concerts are held once a week in dry weather, and weekly outdoor Craft-Music evenings are a feature of the village, especially in high season.

One reason why Söll is so good is because it has a free bus service along the valley from June onwards, and a value for money lift pass which you can buy for any number of days, which enables you to use all the lifts in the Söll valley, plus access to, and the use of, the lifts in the neighbouring valley — at Hopfgarten, Westendorf and Brixen. You can reach all the villages in both valleys by bus or by gondola, or by a mixture of both.

The free bus service (the Kaiserjet) along the valley to the neighbouring villages of Scheffau, Ellmau and Going is a tremendous asset, and you can also use the public bus between the four villages within the valley.

You can buy a Summer lift pass covering at least 9 mountain lifts which even take you into the next valley and the villages of Brixen, Westendorf and Hopfgarten. You can also get an extended Summer lift pass which includes St Johann in Tyrol and the famous resort of Kitzbuhel. The good bus service and the mountain lifts mean that even non-walkers can reach all the villages mentioned in the walks, and a free taxi service also means that non-walkers can reach the beautiful lake, Hintersteinersee.

The resorts are excellent for children. Each village has a children`s play area at the top or middle stations of the gondolas, where children of all ages can have an excellent time. These children`s areas are featured at the end of the short walks section of this website.

I have walked in over 100 resorts in Austria and over 50 in Switzerland. All the resorts were excellent, but Söll in Austria is my favourite.

Every hotel in which I have stayed in the Alps has been excellent, but my favourite is the Eggerwirt in Söll, a family run small hotel, run by the Weiss family, with excellent food and very comfortable accommodation. I have stayed there many times in the past decade. I travel with Inghams, but Thomsons/Crystal also cover the resort.

The photos shown on this website have been taken by Bill Pearce, myself, Malcolm Rigg, Marion Lacey, Helena Keys-Toyer and Oliver Keys-Toyer.
